Copper Basin Marketplace to fill needs of residents

Copper Basin Marketplace will soon provide needed services to the residents of the Santan area, but exactly which services are the most needed is still being determined.

The new strip center will be built just off Hunt Highway at Copper Mine Road and Main Street, in the heart of the Copper Basin neighborhood. Picture a state-of-the-art building right across Main Street from the new regional YMCA's front door.

"We plan to break ground in 2 to 3 months," said John Grossman, leasing agent for Nobeus Property Management.

Businesses are expected to begin moving into the 19,272-square-foot building during the spring of 2007.

During the past six months, Nobeus has spoken with hundreds of retailers and professionals interested in the center. Anyone else who is interested should contact Grossman immediately, he said. Nobeus is currently accepting lease proposals and lessees are expected to be chosen within the next month or so.

"We're looking for the best mix of stores," Grossman said.

Copper Basin Marketplace is also monitoring other existing and developing commercial locations in the area with an eye to avoiding excessive duplication of services.

A family restaurant will anchor retail tenants occupying the 12 available storefronts. The five suites located on the elevator serviced 5,417-square-foot second floor will be reserved for medical/dental practices, insurance agents, real estate agents and other professionals.

"There's a limited amount of space," Grossman said. "Given the response, I expect that most, if not all, space will be spoken for by summer's end."
